Microneedling and Facial Acupuncture

Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture have supported natural beauty and skin care as part of their health diagnosis and care. When the skin and hair are healthy, we have great resources of the body to continue to support our health, immunity, and longevity. Facial Rejuvenation or Facial Acupuncture is an extension of acupuncture needle use to support facial care. In recent years, modern microneedling techniques combined with TCM herbal serums have increased the speed for facial beauty within this scope.

What is microneedling and what does it treat?

Microneedling combines Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with modern technology to rejuvenate the skin. Also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, it is a non-invasive, non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment that uses tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate the body's natural healing process and trigger the production of collagen and elastin, two essential components of healthy, youthful-looking skin.

During the treatment, a specialized device is used to create tiny punctures in the skin, which stimulate the body's natural healing process. This results in the production of new collagen and elastin fibers, which help to tighten and smooth the skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and improve overall skin texture and tone. Serum choices are used during treatment to target your concerns for skin care and maintenance. It is used for aging, hyperpigmentation, treating acne, scarring, hair growth, uneve skin texture, and reducing fine lines and wrinkles. The device is able to penetrate the deeper layers of dermis and is often used in combination with serums, such as hyaluronic acid, to help the skin absorb the serums more deeply for maximum effect.

What does an appointment look like?

When you book a microneedling treatment, it includes a full-body acupuncture treatment (again, to support whole-body health and beauty), numbing cream for the face, red light therapy, the microneedling treatment itself, and lastly a towel steam to calm the skin. You take home the rest of the serum that Dr. Hartzman personalizes for you to use for the next few days.

Acupuncture and Microneedling Vs. Traditional Cosmetic Procedures

Microneedling in our clinic is $375 per session and we recommend 5-6 session to have lasting results for years to come. Compare that to the price of traditional cosmetic treatments: The typical price for a facelift is over $12,000. Dermal fillers, which are used to treat lines and wrinkles, cost between $450-$600 per syringe. Laser procedures can cost between $1000-$2000.

Unlike cosmetic surgeries and other cosmetic procedures, cosmetic acupuncture and microneedling actually treat the causes of aging, resulting in a more holistic approach to skincare, treating the body as a whole, and not just the face. This approach creates longer-lasting results.
